There can be a strong desire to help and rescue a loved one from the consequences revolving around drug or alcohol use. While reducing the consequence for someone may appear helpful at first, reducing the pain of a consequence often reduces the behavior change that a consequence is expected to bring. If we rescue others, we’ll only have to do it again. In today’s program, co-hosts Tim Bode and Gaylen Morse will talk with Dr. Hal Baumchen about the rescuing behaviors common in codependency. They will look at ways to limit enabling behavior patterns.
