Most people in recovery are extremely motivated to do whatever it takes to stay sober, be healthier, and feel better – at least at first. This lesson is designed to help you sustain or regain that strong desire to change your life. Sometimes, “I’ll do whatever it takes,” becomes “how little can I do and still get by?” Recovering addicts are often extremely motivated as they enter treatment. The strategies in this lesson will help you understand disruptions in your recovery and threats to your motivation. This lesson includes common misperceptions you cannot afford to believe. Examine how motivation becomes compromised and learn the primary strategies for sustaining long-term recovery and staying motivated.
